Super 8 Review

Super 8 Review
Super 8 Review

Super 8 has often been compared to the movies The Goonies and the movie E.T. and that's not a bad comparison. This movie features a bunch of unknown kids except Elle Fanning who plays the role of Alice. When we see the character Joe, instantly I saw a young Sean Austin, just like in the movie The Goonies. Then there's Charles, a wannabe director who wants to film a movie to win a contest. The group go to a train station to film on location. As they film, they hear a distant train coming towards them. As the train passes them, Joe sees a truck on the tracks, going towards the train. The inevitable happens and the train crashes hard. After the incident, Joe sees something weird inside a train's car. Soon after, the military arrives and starts sweeping the perimeter.

This movie was directed by J.J. Abrams, the brilliant man who brought us the tv series Lost. And he had the help of none other than Steven Spielberg. Despite being similar to The Goonies and E.T., the movie isn't as good as the classics. It does have some entertaining scenes, but nothing less.

I give it a 7/10.
