The XX made a very simplistic album here. But don't get me wrong, that's far from a bad thing! The lyrics are very honest, guitar and bass parts are very present here. And the drum parts are actually produced with a beat box but it does its job very nicely.
There are quite a few good songs on this album. "Crystalised", "VCR", "Island", "Basic Space" and "Heart Skipped A Beat" are the most interesting songs.
My only regret with this album is that it's too short! It's 11 tracks and about 38 mins long.
This band has a very promising future and I can't wait to hear new material from these guys!
For the album's originality I give them a 7.5/10
