Rihanna - Good Girls Gone Bad Review

Rihanna Good Girls Gone Bad Review
Rihanna - Good Girls Gone Bad Review

Rihanna sure is busy...  Since 2005, this Barbados beauty has released 5 albums (not including her re-release of Good Girls Gone Bad and her soon-to-be released album Talk That Talk).

This review is about Good Girls Gone Bad.  It starts with the mega hit "Umbrella" featuring Jay-Z.  If you haven't seen the music video for this one, then I suggest you do.  Very sexy video.

Next hit on this album, "Don't stop the music".  She incorporates samples from Micheal Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Something".

Next chart topper is the fuel driven song "Shut Up And Drive".  Again, the video for this song is all sorts of awesome.  Cool cars, cool chicks, 'nuff said.  If you haven't heard the Wideboy's Remix, I highly recommend it.  It has more beats, but it's highly refreshing.

Then comes the bone chilling song Rehab.  No, this song has nothing to do with Amy Winehouse.  This almost sounds like a song from Justin Timberlake, mixed with Timbaland.  And what can I say about the lyrics.  Very powerful stuff.

Besides the singles mentioned above, are there any other good songs?  Sure!  "Push Up On Me" is your typical teenage song with a familiar beat probably from the 90's.  "Breakin' Dishes" is probably your odd song out.  For some reason, I don't know how this song fits with the rest of the album.  To be honest, it would be a better fit with her album Rated R.  "Hate That I Love You" is your typical ballad song with very minimal beats and strong guitar parts.  "Say It" sounds like a song from Ashanti, you can almost hear the beach waves.  "Sell Me Candy" is very peculiar.  Lots of different sounds we are not used to hear.  You can really associate this song with her Barbados heritage.  "Lemme Get That" is your *I got money and I like to show it off* song.  It has lots of beats but the lyrics are poor.  "Question Existing" is about a girl who's insecure because she's famous.  It has slow rhythm and very personal lyrics.  Finally the album ends with the album-titled "Good Girls Gone Bad".  It has good beats with guitar parts, perfect song to end the album.

Overall the album Good Girls Gone Bad from Rihanna is packed with great hits and sometimes strong lyrics.

I give it a 7.5/10
