This show is about Hank Moody (David Duchovny) who is a writer in need of inspiration. So he decides to move to California to cure his writer's block. Hank is a total macho guy. He sleeps with pretty much every hot girl he sees. He uses his fame as a way to get girls. Which is pretty pathetic. Fortunately Hank has a very good agent, who is also his best friend Charlie Runkle (Evan Handler). As the first episode progresses, we learn that Hank previously had a steady relationship with Karen (Natascha McElhone) and they even had a daughter together and whose name is Becca (Madeleine Martin).
Hank in some episodes can get pretty low, as he hits the bottom of the barrel a number of times. So in that way, the show can be inspirational, not to become like him. This is David Duchovny like you've never seen him before. He's a loudmouth, he has sex whenever he gets the chance, and he just doesn't gives a shit.
If you're looking for a sexy new show, then check this series out. Definitely not children friendly though (there's a lot of nudity).
