Sliders is a show about Quinn Mallory (Jerry O'Connell), who just discovered a way to travel through different parallel universes. The show takes place in San Francisco where Quinn lives with his mother. At one point during the first episode, Quinn visits his professor Maximillian Arturo (John Rhys-Davis) at his lecture and tells him that he's invented a device capable of opening *worm holes*, allowing him to travel to parallel universes. Of course his professor is furious at him and eventually leaves class leaving his students baffled. The professor decides later on to see Quinn at his home, expecting an apology from him, but instead finds him in his basement with his invention ready to test. Quinn's best friend, Wade (Sabrina Lloyd) happens to drop by as well and after talking about it, decide to test out the device. Unfortunately the worm hole is too big and swallows up Rembrant Brown (Cleavent Derricks), a soul singer on his way to sing the national anthem at a baseball game. There's only one problem now that they're traveling through different universes... They can't find their way back home!
This show is very interesting because they travel to a new and different universe every episode. So you don't have to watch each episode one by one. But I would still recommend you do so.
This show lasted for 5 seasons, before being cancelled.
I recommend you at least check out season 1 - 3 which are the most interesting.
